As an Officer, a warrior, in the Air Force, you’re tasked with upholding the constitution and protecting India’s freedom. The responsibility is enormous, but its not only about work its also about living well. Quality of life is an important attribute of Air Force life and has no parallel in the civil sector. The life offers you challenge, adventure, excitement, honour, prestige, self respect, content family life, safety and security for self and family and not to forget the social status, respect and esteem of your countrymen. Besides being a noble service to the motherland and an honorable profession to be proud of, life in the IAF gives variety, adventure and challenge. It provides best of facilities be it recreation, sports, medical, education or clubs and institutes. The lifestyle imbibes in us a healthy well being and a regime for life. The quality time we are able to spend with our family, social bonding with our counterparts, lifetime relations we nurture and the all willing, all time support from the extended family have boundless value.

A unique esteemed status is enjoyed by an officer in the society. By joining the Air Force, one becomes a member of an exclusive and elite brotherhood. The ingrained code of conduct and ethical values enable the officers to occupy a special social niche in society.

  The present Medical Superintendent of Military Hospital ( Cardio Thoracic Centre)  is Maj Gen G Ganguly, MBBS, MS (Gen Surgery), MCh (Cardio Thoracic Surgery), DNB (Cardio Thoracic Surgery) . The hospital was established in 1945 as Indo British General Hospital at Aundh in Pune .  It was raised after the Second World War , as a hospital for Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases.  It was designated as Military Hospital Aundh in Mar 1946.  Initially it was a 540-bedded hospital.  In 1967 an additional 60 beds were added for Cardio-Thoracic  Surgery, making it a 600 bedded hospital.  Construction of the multistoried hospital building was started in the mid-sixties and completed in 1971.  The hospital shifted to its present location in Sep 1971 and was later re-designated as Military Hospital (Cardio-Thoracic Centre).  It has emerged as a leading tertiary care super-speciality centre.  The hospital is committed to provi...

  EX-SERVICEMEN CONTRIBUTORY HEALTH SCHEME 1. Retired Armed Forces personnel till 2002 could avail medical facilities only for specific high cost surgery/treatment for a limited number of diseases covered under the Army Group Insurance(Medical Branch Scheme) (AGI(MBS)) and Armed Forces Group Insurance Scheme(Management Information System) (AFGIS (MIS)) schemes. These medicare schemes could provide some relief to the ESM, but it was not a comprehensive scheme as compared to and available for other Central Government Employees. Therefore, the requirement was felt of establishing a medicare system which could provide quality medicare to the retirees of the Armed Forces. 2.
